Hi,
a couple of question related to CAST Research, glad if anyone could give me an answer.
i) What are we supposed to write in the cell named “Your Values” (Experience Month and Day count) in the section about professional experience?
ii) Should I mention in my application parenthood experience and maternity leave issues? Which is the most appropriate part for that?
Best regards
Chiara
Feb 25, 2013 @ 17:08:21
Dear Chiara,
The box ‘Your values’ may be identical to the box ‘Computer value’ unless you have worked part-time for example. This box allows you to specify if you have actually not worked during the full period selected.
Regarding parenthood, you do not need to mention it. If you were under contract during that period, it is considered as work experience.
Best regards,
Marie – EU Careers
Feb 25, 2013 @ 17:30:28
Dear Marie, thank you for the prompt reply. I am just wondering how I should compute activities such as teaching at university: the contract is yearly for x hours of teaching and correlated activities. Should I make an estimate?
Thanks,
best
Chiara
Feb 27, 2013 @ 14:17:00
Dear Chiara,
This will be evaluated by the Selection Panel.
You may at present select the full period and provide an explanation in the ‘Nature of Duties’.
Best regards,
Marie – EU Careers

Dear EPSO Team,
I have 2 questions:
1. In the period between the end of university and the 1st job, for 15 months I had a stager contract at JRC. In this period I was not paid and I was in charge for 2 different research projects. Has this stage to be considered part of education and training or professional experience?
2. I have a master degree in engineering, 5 years university.
In the section Education and training, in the list of “Title of qualification awarded” I cannot find the right definition. Is it a Master I livello, Master II livello or whatelse?
Thank you,
Raffaella
Feb 26, 2013 @ 16:39:48
Dear Raffaella,
If it was not paid, it will not be considered as work experience. You may mention it in the ‘Education and trainings’ section, and/or in the ‘Motivation and Strengths’ section of your application form.
I would advise you to ask confirmation to the University regarding the title of your diploma.
Best regards,
Marie – EU Careers

Hello,
currently I’m in a reserve list as Research Administrator (AD6) for the open competition EPSO/AD/../10, which will be valid until the end of 2014. May I still apply for this open competition (EPSO/CAST/S/5/2013) or is there a conflict?
Thanks,
Isabella
Feb 22, 2013 @ 16:20:33
Dear Isabella,
Yes, you may also apply for this selection. (if you meet the admission criterias)
Best regards,

Feb 21, 2013 @ 00:15:29
Dear Sir/Madam
I have a question regarding language section of the EPSO/CAST/S/5/2013 Call. Under C Konwoledge of Languages it is stated that Language 2 must be different from Language 1. But later in the text it is stated “…in the interest of equal treatment of all candidates, everyone, including those whose first official language is one of these three (English, German or French) is required to take the test in his or her second language, shose from among these three”. My question is: is it then possible to put English as both Language 1 and Language two?
Best
Dalibor
Feb 21, 2013 @ 14:48:10
Dear Dalibor,
No you may not select English as Language 1 and Language 2.
This part of the text is only explaining that English speakers (L1) for example would not take their test in English, but in their second language too. (French/German)
This way, equal treatment applies to all candidates.
Best regards,
Marie – EU Careers

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am a laureate of an EPSO AD5 competition and currently shortlisted in a selection process, which will be closed mid/end of March 2013 presumably. May I still apply for EPSO/CAST/S/5/2013 RESEARCHERS
Which profile would Health Systems be classified to? Human and Social Sciences?
Thank you for your reply in advance.
Best regards,
Diana
Feb 22, 2013 @ 16:15:40
Dear Diana,
Yes, you may apply for this selection too. (there are no restrictions)
Unfortunately, no further information is available to the candidates than the list of the principal subjects/disciplines relevant to each profile available at: http://blogs.ec.europa.eu/eu-careers.info/2013/02/01/cast-research-additional-information-on-profiles/

Dear Nathalie,
I would like to ask you where (if there are any) I could fine practice competence tests related to Profile 3: Human and Social Sciences of the current call (EPSO/CAST/S/5/2013 in the field of Research)?

Darina.
Feb 20, 2013 @ 16:06:50

Dear Nathalie,
I would like to know whether people who will receive their PhD at the beginning of 2014 – therefore after the results of the first test – could be eligible to apply for this position.
Thank you very much for your answer.
Andrea
Feb 19, 2013 @ 16:48:51

Feb 27, 2013 @ 18:28:23
Dear Marie,
I’m also going to receive my Phd diploma in February 2014 (end of Phd, October 2013).
I’ve read on the Call for expression of interest that I have to obtained doctoral diploma before the call for an INTERVIEW, not for the admission test. Is this correct? I know that the database will last for three years and will be also available for other European Istitutions. Can I fill the application form and, in case I will be called before the dissertation, communicate to the committant my position?
Thank you in advance
Laura
Feb 28, 2013 @ 15:03:55

Dear Nathalie
I am filling the Cast researcher application. In the Talent screener page the questions 2a/b and the questions 3 a/b are identical. Please, could you verify that?
Thank you!
Kind regards
Novella
Feb 15, 2013 @ 14:19:45
Dear Novella,
The questions are actually different : if you have more than 5 years of experience in the fields listed in the Call for expression of interest, please answer ‘Yes’ to question 2a, and ‘No’ to question 3a.
Best regards,
Marie – EU Careers

Dear Sir/Madam:
I am a registered Physiotherapist and registered Osteopath. Would these two disciplines count within the Medical Sciences Profile 5 refers to?
Thanks in advance for any help.
Juan.

Dear Juan,
It is up to each candidate to decide to which of these profiles his/her expertise belongs.

After validating the application, I’ve been searching in the “How to apply” section for instruction of how to submit the appliction form with my handwritten signature, but I could not find it. How should I do it? Once the application is validated, is it considered as accepted for the competition?
Thanks for your help.

Dear David,
No, you don’t need to send a signed copy.

Sehr geehrtes EU-Karriere-Team,
Thilo

Dear Sir/Madame,
I am interested in applying for the ongoing EPSO/CAST/S/5/2013 RESEARCHERS – FUNCTION GROUP IV Profile 3: Human and Social Sciences.
On the website, at the link http://europa.eu/epso/apply/how_apply/fixed/index_en.htm, I have read that:
“You may apply for one generalist profile and one function group per year only”.
Does it mean that if I apply for /CAST/S/5/2013 RESEARCHERS, I will not be able to apply for another Espo Cast (for example Cast secretaries or administrative staff) during 2013 ?
Can I apply for a new CAST competition, even if during the same time I am applying for another ongoing Cast competition or I must wait the end of the ongoing Cast competition?
Thank you in advance for your reply.
Best regards.
Irene
