Hi I have two questions about the AD2010 rerun (sorry for crossposting):
1. I have a new ID number but it wasn’t possible to modify that part of the application. What should I do? Is it ok?
2. Which would be the last possible week in June to take the exam (I have to plan job travels in the same period)?
Best regards
May 07, 2013 @ 14:01:30
1. Just bring your new ID to the test centre. This will cause no trouble.
2. The testing period will end on 18 June.
Best regards,
Noel

Dear Sir(s),
In accordance with the indicative planning table, posted on your website, there is going to be an AD7 competition for lawyer linguists – ‘Court of Justice’ channel, for Portuguese interpreters that will commence in 06/2013.
I have a master in Portuguese law, and a proficiency certificate in English. However, and despite the fact that I have worked in law firms and as an in-house lawyer in the area of drafting and translation, into Portuguese, of legal texts in French, and that I am currently working as a public officer in the VAT department of the Ministry of Finance, having to work with several linguistic versions of the VAT Directive and of sentences ruled by the Court of Justice of the European Union (namely in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese), I have no academic certificate in French. In this sense, and considering the NoC of previous competitions of this sort, I would like to know if it will be possible, for me, to apply to for such a competition. Based solely in my knowledge of legal French, acquired throughout my professional experience.
Best regards,
Pedro
May 06, 2013 @ 11:56:00
Dear Pedro,
As long as the competition notice is not published, I cannot confirm that your diploma(s)/professional experience will be accepted for the participation in the planned competition for Portuguese speaking lawyer linguists. Based on the information in your message, it seems however that you might fill the conditions to be admitted.
Kind regards,
Nathalie
May 06, 2013 @ 15:22:45

Thank you for your reply. Nevertheless I couldn’t help noticing that the competition has apparently been postponed to September. Would you be so kind as to confirm this?
Best regards,
Pedro

Yes, I confirm that it’s now planned to start in September.

About the rerun of AD/177/10.
I received the email to register and I will do it soon. But accordingly to the rules, beside the fact that verbal reasoning will be in the second language (which, I think, risk to open path to further problems considering that in 2011 it has been changed, logically, because it would test language skills more than reasoning) there is something I can’t understand how to deal with: if we cannot modify our profiles it implies that 3 years of experience/ education get lost? I guess that what you mean is that we cannot modify it for now but, the ones who pass the test will be enabled to update their competence/skills and even motivation (personally I much more motivated and competent now than 3 years ago – and I am not alone!). Could you provide more information about?
kind regards
Apr 03, 2013 @ 16:23:23
Dear Betta,
Those three years of experience/education will be taken into consideration by the Recruitment services once the laureates will be shortlisted in the reserve list.
The laureates will be able to upload a cv in the ‘CVs’ section of the EPSO Account.
The application form itself may indeed no longer be modified.

I received a message telling me that in 2013 will be the re-run EPSO selection procedure (EPSO/AD/177/10 competition) and I will be able to participate on it.
I would like to know if the Computer Based Test CBT will be exactly the same way as it was in 2010 (verbal, numerical and abstract tests) without the Situational Judgement.
Since 2011, the CBT includes the Situational Judgement exam and I would like to know if in 2013 the Administrators selection procedure you will be doing the same way.
Thank you

Which rules will the re-run of competition EPSO/AD/177/10 follow: the rules in force at the time of the publication of the competition (2010) or the new rules currently in force? I am mostly referring to the language of the verbal reasoning test: will it be in Language 2 (French, English or German) as it was under 2010 rules or in Language 1 as under new selection rules?
thanks

We read today on EPSO’s website: “15/11/2012 – 2012 Competition planning update – no selection for Assistants in the Secretarial Field” :The current economic climate calls for ambitious measures not only from public administrations in Member States but also from European Institutions and agencies. In the drive for greater efficiency and savings in administrative expenditure, changes to the Staff Regulations which govern the working conditions of the EU civil service have been proposed. One of the changes expected concerns secretaries and clerical staff who in the future will be recruited under new conditions of employment. In the meantime, it has been decided to postpone any selections for assistants in the secretarial field (grade AST 1) and changes to the indicative planning for the 2012 assistant cycle have been made accordingly.” Could you please inform us on how this influences the people that are currently on the AST1 reserve list? Has a provision been made for us (laureates of EPSO/AST/117/11 – Assistants in the Secretarial Field (AST 1) – EL, EN, ET, FI, FR, GA, HU, IT). Your feedback on this will be highly appreciated
Nov 16, 2012 @ 15:25:31
Hi Ionna,
It has no incidence on the laureates who are currently on our reserve lists. It will only affect future AST1 positions.

Jan 23, 2013 @ 01:20:07
Hello EPSO-team,
Relating to this, can you tell us when it will be decided if the AST/117/11 list will or will not be extended? How much beforehand it will be communicated?
Jan 23, 2013 @ 09:26:38
Dear Pamela,
The list is valid until 7 August 2015, see http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ:C:2012:288A:0005:0009:EN:PDF
A decision on the extension of the valididty should be taken in 2015.
Nathalie
Jan 23, 2013 @ 14:12:20
Thanks Nathalie,
That is what I though also but it was a printing mistake and there was a corrigendum to it – so the list is valid until 7 August 2013. That is why I would like to know how much in advance usually they decide before the expiry date – a few months before or only in August – any estimation?
Jan 23, 2013 @ 14:59:39
Dear Pamela,
Yes, you are right: There was a indeed a corrigendum published afterwards. My apologies for the wrong info published earlier.
In general, the decision to extend the validity is taken some weeks before the initial end date.

There are not many Doctors actually practising medecine within the EU institutions. On the other hand, there are few competitions to which you could apply if you would like to contribute in drafting policies, implementing EU law, analysing and advising. Dear Rosa and Marie,
. Could you please give a final and firm confirmation of the expected period for results publishing? This would help us to stop “holding our breath” and to forget about this competition until that time approaches!
There is quite an important difference between your estimated times for publishing the results of the AST3 competition (before the end of Sept vs during the second half of Oct). This is quite confusing… and you can probably imagine how stressful it is for us candidates to check our EPSO accounts every day eagerly awaiting the results

Please help me with one piece of information regarding the supporting documents that have to be presented at the AC: do the documents attesting the professional experience have to be translated into English , French or German? The invitation specifically mentions that such translation is necessary for the diploma attesting the required level of education, but for the profession related documents there is no mention.
Thanks
Jul 05, 2012 @ 12:05:04
Hello,
Only your diploma should be translated into English, German and French. The translation does not have to be certified.

Dear Natalie,
I would like to ask what the reason is for such a long waiting period for the test results. I am not an IT expert, but with a multiple choice test taken on a computer, I would believe it would be possible to know our scores instantly after the test (there are such tests), or at least when the test period ends. Could you please tell me why we have to wait for such a long time? What is EPSO’s procedure after the test are written? What takes them 1,5 months?
Thank you!
Best,
Peter

Sorry Nathalie,
I was trying to reply to an earlier comment and didn’t put the competition number.
I meant EPSO/AD/215/11. You said earlier that the results will be published “not before end of June”. Does that mean after June i.e. July or later or by the end of June i.e. as latest next week Friday? I’m leaving next Friday and will not have access to internet at all times during couple of months.
Thanks!

It’s still planned to be published by the end of this week.

Jun 12, 2012 @ 13:28:45
When you post competition results, could you please indicate the position title (for ex. “Childcare Staff”) along with the competition number (ex. “CAST selection XYZ/2011″) in the post/e-mail subject?
That would make notifications via e-mail much easier to understand.
Now we have to read through the whole message, and often still don’t understand what competition it refers to..
Thanks

Bonjour,

Jun 12, 2012 @ 16:23:55
Dear Julia,
We are publishing statistical information and other useful information on the major steps in a competition procedure, such as the number of candidates, the thresholds for the different steps of the procedure, names of selection board members, key dates in the procedure etc. As publishing statistics and reports is quite a resource intensive exercise it doesn’t allow us to provide every set of reports requested by candidates, even if we would like to be able to do more. We hope that you will understand these reasons for not publishing on our web site the information requested by you.

Hello EPSO team,
I opened an EPSO account yesterday.
On the site I see that there was a deadline of 17th April to register for the 2012 competiton. Does it mean that candidates have to wait for next year to apply? So I was wondering when are the registration opened for the next CBT admission tests.
Thanks
Elodie
Jun 01, 2012 @ 13:55:04
Dear Elodie,
Please have a look at the indicative planning at http://europa.eu/epso/doc/epso_planning_en.pdf There might be other intersting competitions.
On the day of registration (see the date on the planning), you will find useful documents on our web site with further information on the specific competition procedure.
You can only register for CBT tests in the framework of a specific competition.

May 31, 2012 @ 17:23:51
Hello EPSO team,
I’m newly registered and just opened an account successfully and can log in again. I would like to apply for a Linguist position grade AD7 this year. The site has a wealth of information and it can be overwhelming. I’m pleasantly surprise to see that there’s a forum like this one to speak with a real person.
My questions are:
-After opening my account I didn’t get a confirmation by email is that normal? I can’t seem to see anything that looks like an EPSO inbox to check my mail strangely.
-Will I get an email within the next 48h to book a date to take the Preselection Test (computer based)?
Many thanks
Elodie
Jun 01, 2012 @ 14:04:37
Dear Elodie,
You just created your EPSO account, but you did not yet apply for a specific competition. As far as I understand, you want to apply for the linguists competition that is planned to be published in July at: http://europa.eu/epso/apply/index_en.htm Please check the indicative planning for exact dates: http://europa.eu/epso/doc/epso_planning_en.pdf
In the competition notice that will be published in July, you will find all information on the competition procedure, including information on the different tests.
As long as you did not apply for a specific competition, you will not receive any mails in your EPSO account.
Nathalie

Jun 22, 2012 @ 09:06:44
Dear Nathalie,
Does the “not before the end of June” mean that the results will be published by the last day of June or, in fact, could be even July?
Sorry, for insisting. I’m leaving end of June to a place where I don’t have access to internet at all times and will stay there for almost two months. It would be therefore nice to have the results before that.
Thanks a lot in advance!
Jun 22, 2012 @ 11:42:33
Dear Johanna,
It’s not clear from your question, which competition you are speaking about. If it is about the administrators’ competition EPSO/AD/230-231/12, I confirm that the results are planned to be published before the end of June. The exact date is not yet known.
I also remind you that all candidates must check their EPSO account at least twice a week during the whole competition procedure.

May I ask why these results take so much time to be ready? Since they are “computer basedd”, I suppose that the results are instant, i.e. as soon as the candidate completes them. or are these tests manually checked?

May 31, 2012 @ 16:43:10
Dear Dimitris,
Are you a candidate of the EPSO/AD/230-231/12 ? In that case, the following link might give you useful information, especially the last point on the CBT test results: http://blogs.ec.europa.eu/eu-careers.info/2012/04/18/computer-based-admission-tests-most-important-points-to-remember/
Nathalie
Jun 03, 2012 @ 13:27:41
Dear Nathalie,
thank you for your reply.
Yes, I am a candidate of the EPSO/AD/230-231/12 (I am the same Dimitris who asked the first question of this thread).
The link was indeed useful. Unfortunately, I did not know we could contest items of the tests immediately after sitting them. I had indeed one item in my verbal reasoning which I would have contested (I do not remember its exact content today). Will keep that in mind for next time. Unfortunately, this clarification was only published after I had sat my tests.
This brings me to another point which should be improved. Despite registering on the first day registrations were open, and despite booking on the morning of the first day of my booking period, I only had a choice of 2 dates (I think 4 and 5 April) merely 5 days after booking. It is difficult to believe that all dates in May in Brussels (3 test centres) were booked when I had done everything on the first day it was possible to be done. This gives a feeling that the “later dates” are reserved for certain candidates…
It is indeed very pleasant to have the possibility to discuss with somebody, this improves the already good opinion I had of this website. Perhaps it would be even better to have this discussion in a “forum”, so as to make it easier for people to find answers to questions they have but may have already been asked by others (and answered by the EPSO team).
Thanks again!
Dimitris
Jun 08, 2012 @ 14:13:18
Dear Dimitris,
Thanks for your comments on the procedure. I will forward them to my colleagues in charge.
I would just like to ensure you that no seats are reserved for certain candidates. It’s just that seats are gradually released. Otherwise all candidates would book the latest test dates and those who validate their application later would not have any chance to find a seat.
I’m very happy to get your feed-back on our new communication platform. Some pages already work like a forum where candidates can ask their questions and answers are posted online (see for example the pages on the CAST procedures – ). As this platform is still a pilot project (with restricted dedicated resources), we did not (yet) open all the pages for questions. In the meantime, questions on your competition should indeed rather be sent to my colleagues at the candidate contact service: https://europa.eu/epso/application/passport/webform.cfm?usertype=2&lang=en
In the meantime, you could also have a look at our FB page: http://www.facebook.com/EU.Careers.Ive.Applied

Dear EPSO team,
I just wanted to say I think you do a great job, thanks for all your hard work and for dealing with so many requests and complaints in such a calm and efficient manner.
As you requested feedback about the site, I wanted to suggest also having a section on upcoming competitions (I know the planning exists, but this is a more dynamic environment in which to communicate).
Having applied for the recent AD7 competition, I’d be interested in hearing about other opportunities that fit my profile (whether CAST, AD, AST or specialist) as soon as they arise.
Oh and is there any chance you’ll be publishing the number of AD candidates who effectively sat the tests?
Have a nice day!
May 25, 2012 @ 17:24:23
Dear Sara,
Thanks for your positive feed-back and comments. We will have a new web site published hopefully before summer. There will be a completely new section on upcoming competitions. I hope you will fiand that useful, but don’t hesitate to send us your feed-back.
Concerning your last question: we do not yet have these figures. As far as I remember, we did not publish these figures before, but I will check with my colleagues in charge.
I wish you a nice week-end!

It would facilitate, enrich and speed up communication (especially between us candidates), if postings were visible immediatly after they are written.

Dear Laura,

May 09, 2012 @ 12:32:26
Dear Natalie,
I did yesterday my CBT in Lisbon, but during the test a problem hapened related with the time established for the10 minutes break. I am deeply worried about the negative impact that this ‘event’ could have in the final results of my CBT at this very first phase on the Competition (Competition for AD5 -230/231-12).
I’ve already send an email to Epso (via the webform available) and also a message to Prometric in order to present the case and expressing my deep concern about this situation. As far as I know the tests at the Prometric Centre were recorded, my check in and check out time were also registered on the authorized documents available at the center, so I believe EPSO and Prometric have the necessary information to evaluate the case.
I’ve sent those messages yesterday but I’m a little bit worried because I haven’t received so far a proper response to them from EPSO (except an automatic reply from Prometric).
This is a serious matter and I believe it has to be handled with the required sense of urgency. So may you please tell-me if you have any kind of feedback on this situation?
Kind Regards
Isabel

Good afternoon,
I am a current candidate of the competition EPSO/AD/230/12 (AD5) and I have successfully booked my CBT test last friday for the next month, day 11.

Institute, Av. 5 de Outubro 295

However this same adress does not appear on the list of test centers. I am getting a little concerned. What should I do?

I would just like to add that I believe it is clearly communicated by epso that the instructions of booking the test will appear within 48h and that booking will only be possible during a short period. I personally would then expect that a candidate really eager to participate would log on to their account frequently during those days.
Kind regards,
Charlotta

Hi,
Just to second what some people have been saying – the period during which one can book CBT is very short, and in my case fell over a weekend when there was also a family bereavement, which meant I wasn’t online. There was no advance notification, so I suspect that I have been automatically withdrawn. It’s a shame that the period for booking is so short, and that there is no advance notification. Maybe consider for next year:
1) Enabling email notification
2) Giving a longer window for booking CBT
3) Not setting CBT booking deadline mostly over a weekend
4) Carrying out on-line CBT rather than having to travel to a test centre
Just some suggestions. I have sent an email RE bereavement and missing deadline and hope to hear back soon, but I don’t harbour much hope.
Cheers,
E.

Hello,
I applied for the AD5 competition, and have already booked my exam date. I was wondering however, if it was possible to change my first language (from Greek to English) for the exams. If this is possible, how can I do it?
Apr 25, 2012 @ 07:50:11
Hi Nefeli,
After the validation of the application, it’s no longer possible to change the registration data.

I had difficulties logging into my EPSO account and I missed the booking time to the tests. My application ref is 2659398. Is there anything I could do still?
Btw, I agree with Isabel on the equal opportunity to the information…this is a really confusing prosedure all together and takes a lot of effort to complete.
Today is the iorst time when I found this site which could have been wery useful from the very beginning.
Apr 25, 2012 @ 07:53:37
Dear Ulla,
I regret to inform you that you can no longer book for the tests after the booking period in your EPSO account.
I will forward your comments to my colleagues in charge.
We only published these pages very recently. Please do not hesitate to send us your comments and tips for improvement.

Hello,
I would like to share with EPSO and with all the candidates my enormous dispointment over the CBT tests booking process. When connecting to my account today, I have realized I had missed the deadline by just a few hours. I very much regret the short timeframe that was given to us (4,5 days only and over a weekend) and the fact that no public communication was made regarding this schedule. I am sure many other candidates are facing the same situation (and I have read a couple of posts on this topic here already). I don’t think such timeframe and lack of communication has provided us with a fair and equal opportunity to participate in the competition. I have submitted this opinion to EPSO through the webform, but I also wanted to share it publicly on this page, hoping other candidates who react as well.
Thank you.

Dear Marie,
Thank you for your feed-back. I will also forward it to my colleagues in charge of the organisation of the CBT tests.

Dear EPSO,
This website is a very good idea, congratulations for it! It is also very nice of you to be open to feedback from the candidates.
I will take this opportunity to give a friendly feedback ref the competition: I validated my application relatively early I think, on April 4th, but nevertheless I only had ONE possible date on which to book my CBT test in my country. With great efforts, I will manage to attend the test on that day (however inconvenient it is for me), but I do think that it would be fair to any candidate to be able to choose between at least 2 non-consecutive dates (possibly with a several days/1 week between them). Having only 1 possible date is might be causing some very good candidates to not attend the test – which could be a loss for your institution, since your purpose is to attract all the best people in this competition.
I hope you will consider this feedback in future competitions.
I wish you all the best!

Dear candidate,
Thanks for your feed-back. I will forward it to my colleauges in charge of the organisation of the CBT tests.
All the best for your tests!

Thank you very much. Do the 48 hours refer only to weekdays, or do weekends count as well?
Apr 25, 2012 @ 07:40:32
Week-ends also count.

Hello,
My booking period ends on the 23rd, but this morning when I checked the dates available, there was only one left (24th) so I booked it although it would be a huge inconvenience to make that date. In the meantine, however, a friend who is also applying told me that another test center in the same city opened with more possible dates. Since I have to reschedule 48 hours before the exam and I might have to wait 48 hours to get the instructions on how to reschedule, will this be possible?
Apr 20, 2012 @ 12:25:16
Dear Rita,
I would suggest you to book as soon as possible and if you encounter issues with the (re)booking tool, please directly contact Prometric. You can find their contact details via your EPSO account (booking invitation letter).

I’m also impatiently waiting to know the number of (thousands) of candidates.
Is there a reason why it takes so long to publish the figures? Thank you.

Thanks for setting up this contact site! Especially for those among us who choose NOT to be a Facebook-member the existence of this site is very good news.
Concerning possible improvements of this site: I’d love to see a discussion forum again (there used to be one on Facebook last year that doesn’t exist anymore for whatever reason).

Dear Laura,
Thanks for your feed-back. We will be adding much more information on these web pages over the next few weeks.

Hello,
yesterday I validated my application, but realized that I probably don’t meet the requirements asked for AD7 level: will I be eliminated or just moved to AD5?
Thank you!
Apr 19, 2012 @ 15:36:33
Hi Alessio,
Candidates can indeed be reassigned to AD5 (under certain conditions). This choice had to be made explicitely via the application form before validation. See point I. 2. of the notice of competition.

Dear Silvia,
The information on the booking and testing will be sent to you within 48 hours after the validation of your application. Your booking period depends on the date of validation. You will be invited to select yourself the date of your tests.

Hi,
I have double nationality – German and Croatian. If I apply for the upcoming competition for AD5, can I apply also for Croatian EU competition announced by EPSO that is supposed to be held in June?

Dear Igor,
Yes you can apply for both.

To whom it may concern,
would it be possible to book a test date or re apply for the AD5 competitions as I was unable to access my EPSO account over the Easter holidays and I have just missed the booking date.

Dear Brian,
Unfortunately, if you miss your booking deadline, you cannot participate further in the same competition.

Hello Nathalie,
In your post about the late validation of applications you said that you don’t know why people aren’t validating their application early. At least in the UK most Master students will have essays and exams until the end of April. Maybe that is why they are trying to take their test as late as possible. I have read that the tests are organised in phases. People probably don’t want to validate in one of the earlier phases and then not be able to take the test after their university exams.
Apr 09, 2012 @ 14:58:39
Thank you for the site.
Apr 09, 2012 @ 14:57:00
Dear all
I write you because I have one question:
Could I apply to AD5 Communication with one bachelor in Teacher + One master in Sales & Marketing? (Inside this marketing I studied communication).
I have, as well, 10 years experience in sales. Is this enough relevant experience to apply for AD7?
Thank you in advance for your answer.
Best regards,
Ana Blanco.
Apr 11, 2012 @ 08:18:51
Dear Ana,
Your bachelor should be a university one, not a professional one. What kind is your diploma?

Dear Ms. Nathalie,
I will not be in Europe until the second week of May due to a plane ticket which I cannot reschedule. Is there any way to be sure my potential booking dates would include the May 16th-19th period? I am in the process of finishing my application.
Thanks in advance for your reply,
E.

Hello,
I just saw there was a selection procedure for contract agents in the field of translation. Since I cannot find any reference to it, I assume it is an on-going procedure and I cannot apply anymore. Could you be so kind to confirm that this is the case and where can I find future competition announcements for similar posts?
Many thanks.
Kind regards,
Christiana
May 24, 2012 @ 09:43:47
Dear Christina,
I confirm that this is an ongoing procedure. Deadline for applications was 29/11/2011.

Process no. 2603959.
Dear Sirs,
I am sending this e-mail because, unfortunately my application to UE Career was not well submited.
I know, once I have submited my application, no ammendments are alowed, nevertheless I was not able to introduce my masters degree on it. It is well mentioned on my CV, which I’ve submited along with the application.
Please let me know if there is any chance to upload my application so that, during the selection process, my Degree would not be ommited.
Thank you in advance for your help,
Tiago Oliveira
Mar 26, 2012 @ 07:53:08
Dear Tiago,
I confirm that you can not change your application form after its validation.
As candidates don’t need a masters degree to participate in the competition for the administrators, this is anyway not necessary at this stage of the selection.
Once you are on the reserve list, recruiting institutions will be able to check your CV. This CV can be updated as often as you want with new information.

We are using the iTheme2 theme with a few “tweaks”.
Apr 09, 2012 @ 13:40:33
Dear Sir/Madam,
On the 3rd April EPSO posted that “very few amongst you have booked the examination center”.
I think one of the main reasons is because first, applicants are not informed in advance when they will be able to book the examination center. And if it was only this, fine. But secondly, and I believe this is a serious problem as it jeopardises the equal opportunities of applicants is the short time to book the examination center. We had just 4 days to book and those days were during Easter holiday period. Therefore, among some of us, the acces to internet was limited.
I do not believe that under these conditions equal opportunities and the “reasonable time” have been respected by EPSO.
In addition, when someone wants to complain about this situation, there is no way to contact EPSO in an easy way.
I hope you can improve this in the future as some of us are very disappointed.
Best regards,
Isabel
