Council required to upgrade motorway parapets

February 10th, 1994

Myth: Railings/parapets on motorway bridges will in some instances have to be stranghened to bring them into line wit EU standards, costing county councils thousands of pounds.
(The Daily Telegraph, 10.02. 1994)

Response: This is not the case. The Eu has no competence in this area of policy, and therefore there is no relevant legislation, at the european level.
