English cricket bat industry under threat after EU directive bans export of willow – The Daily Telegraph, 16 April 2010

April 16th, 2010

Dear Sir

Whilst it is easy to hit out at the EU for banning the use of methyl bromide, “English cricket bat industry under threat after EU directive bans export of willow, The Daily Telegraph, 16 April 2010 – scratch below the surface and one discovers the ban stems from a United Nations agreement to protect the environment from damaging ozone depleting substances.  This is something the UK, like every other UN member, would be doing whether it was an EU member or not.

Yours sincerely
